Trumpeter swans (Cygnus buccinator) are a conservation success story. Originally threatened by hunting and habitat loss, trumpeter swans have been making a comeback. Numerous nesting pairs in the Kawartha Lakes have been successfully raising cygnets to adulthood each year.
