There are thought to be less than 200 moose (Alces alces) in Yellowstone National Park, down significantly due to habitat loss of old growth forests surrounding the park, hunting and predation. Usually found in small family groups except during the rut, we were lucky to find a pair of moose bedded down in the willow flats.
